Hi!
I am painting the blightkings so I've thought that it could be interesting to discuss with you, dear readers, how I paint them and Nurgle humans in general.
This is going to be the same painting scheme of the Glottkin two small bros, and the riders of the Maggoth Lords.
As always it is not the best way to paint them, but simply my way, hoping to be helpful. I think you can bend this to all the Nurgle humans, also for 40k. I wanted a really dirty and rusty result, so this painting scheme is going to make your miniatures a clot of dirty and rust.

XLVI - Genesis of a new Project: the origin
Hi!
As you can read on the title, there is something new that I want to share. Must be sincere, this is going to be a small trip from past. As you know, I am working on a small WH40K Dark Eldar warband, a small group of mercenary that simply reject to live in Commoragh and decided to live away in The Webay. The project is very nice to do, but sometimes you need to return back to your roots, and often there is something that make you have an epiphany. A new plausible future project involves dark elves, so I felt nice to show from where I am starting.

XLV - Showcase The Glottkin, Monster March: IV week
"All around, only silence. Also the big flies, generally noisy and enterprising, were silent. Somewhere hoarse laments cut the silence like rusty knives on a bone.
In that moment, he smiles, when he knows that they are sharing the magnificent gifts of their generous Father. Which God gives you his favourite things without you have to ask them?"
Hi all!
Well the Glottkin are finished, and I am very happy: the model is big, very big, with tons of details, and a lot of character, and try to make it disgusting, sick but menacing has been a nice challenge.
Before to continue, I have to thanks SwordMaster of Path of an Outcast, the manager of this amazing event: thanks a lot, seing so much monsters together is very cool, the only thing is missing is a pic with all of them together (but clearly it is impossible lol).
I was playing with phone filters, and I have thought that this one where quite nice! Look the pink fire! Quite fun that the opposite of the painting scheme I used is near to the opposite chaos god to Nurgle.Well, after that, the real pics.

XLIV - wip The Glottkin, Monster March, III week
Hi you all!
Third week of Monster March! The goal is near and I have only to stretch my hand to catch it!
As always, a recap of all the steps:
-first week: assembling, priming, brainless painting (preparations for the real painting);
- second week: largest parts and all the part with their base colours at least;
- third week: details and finish;
- fourth week: everything it is missing.

XLIII - Wip: The Glottkin, Monster March, II week
Hi!
Second week of Monster March! I should be at half of the total work, but I think that I have done less than it. Well let's see the job. This monster is the last of the Nurgle Wave that touches my table in december. You can easily see all the Nurgle things searching on this blog.
I have a pair of new project to do, but I am going out the path. The Glottkin now.

XLII - WIP: The Glottkin, Monster March, I week
Hi!
Today a post about my first week of the Monster March, the week about assembling and so on.
Unluckily my the Glottkin were already assembled and primed before the knowing of MM, being them the last wave of the small sea of Nurgle that hit my desk, furthermore I ought to start before the official beginning due work issues: I really wanted to partecipate to this event, and the kind Swordmaster allows me to partecipate despite my not phased painting. The pics are going to be updated in sync with the official calendar, but the work is slightly ahead when you are reading a certain wip. Sorry!

XXXVIII - Showcase: Plague Lords Magnetized
Whoaa the Plague Lords are finished!!!
I really had fun in painting this model, more than daemons, because it has all the good features that daemons have, like great quantity of flesh, horns, spikes, bubbles, teeths, fangs, trophy heads and guts, but also it has a "human" part, with different skin, armours, weapons and so on.

XXXVI- wip: Nurgle Mortals, Maggoth Lords and (a bit of) the Glottkin
Hi readers!
This is the wip post, a kind of small journal written in more than one day, about the last two big units I have of Nurgle, the Maggoth Lords and the Glottkin. Let's end with some big boys!
Furthermore a lot of nice colours and things are arrived, and I am more excided when new colours arrive than when I have mount of miniatures.

XXXIV - Showcase: Nurgle Daemons Army Shoot!
Come to daddy my small maggots, lurking in the cold blood, drinking pus, rotting every breath, come to daddy following the toll of rusty bells, if your eyes are melted, or veiled by cataracts.

XXXIII - Showcase: Nurgle Drones
Hi!
In these days I've painted the three Nurgle Drones, the last chapter of the daemons part of the Nurgle wave that hits my hobby desk in December. I've not done a wip simply because I did not find a meaning for it, the drones were "almost painted" for a while, so I've thought "why do a wip, they are almost finished" and so on. Well now they are really finished, and, I am happy to say that the daemonic part of the nurgle miniature I got is ended.

XXXII - Showcase: Plaguebearers and Chaos Spawns
[O]utside the ordered universe [is] that amorphous blight of nethermost confusion which blasphemes and bubbles at the center of all infinity—the boundless daemon sultan Azathoth, whose name no lips dare speak aloud, and who gnaws hungrily in inconceivable, unlighted chambers beyond time and space amidst the muffled, maddening beating of vile drums and the thin monotonous whine of accursed flutes. H. P. Lovecraft, The Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath (from Wikipedia)

XXXI - Tutorial: Nurgle daemons
Hi!
As you are seeing, I am working on a big (for my standard) group of Nurgle miniatures, daemons and "humans". Probably this is going to be Nurgluary, or something similar (probably Plaguary... well I am not so good in these things!).
However, once I made a tutorial about Nurgle daemons but it is floating somewhere in the Warp, so I decided to do another time it, with some variations: that post was one of the most read on the old blog, and painting Nurgle is damn fun, so here we go.
N.B.
I have removed the downloadable tutorial, they did not convinced me at all and, frankly, quite useless imho. I left the grid with image, and the step by step are going to be in a classical way. Hope you enjoy it.

XXX - Showcase: Nurglings
Hi
Here we go, new year, new miniatures!
30th post of this blog, quite proud of what it is becoming.
In this post the first results of the work on the Nurgle wave, Nurglings: not too much words, hoping pics are going to tell more.
I got some ideas about them, so I tried to do the best for those small terrible guys. Must say, they are very funny to paint, but you sweat a bit painting some parts hidden by the layers of this little monsters.
As already said, I like them because they seem that they are doing stupid poses and faces when someone is taking a pic of them, maybe a proud Great Unclean. I glued one also to make it seems falling, adding a bir more of disorder.

XIII - Showcase: Hellpit Abomination
Showcase: Hellpit Abomination
The advice that I can give to you if you decide to paint this monster, is to mix colours and technique because for this big model, it is easy to make an anonymous work. It is a big rat that lives with other rats in disgusting place, so it is impossible that his skin could be soft and pink.
Ah, if you want to make different parts with different colours, use the great quantity of cuts and scars to interrupt the colours: in this way it is simple fast and natural.
I also used many little mouses that you can find into the box because I wanted to give the idea that those little rats are eating a bit the Hellpit (but he doesn't care, he his too much big and badass).
Do not understimate the power of glossy finishing, the contrast with the matt one is very interesting: however we are going do face this issue sooner or later.
VI - Showcase: Daemons Bloodcrushers
Showcase: Daemons Bloodcrushers
Hi readers!
As you already know I'm painting AOS Khorne army but they are not the first Khorne experience.
When I was a bit younger (more or less 13 years ago) I planned a Khorne army. I've repainted those old model a pair of year ago more or less, and they are all sold on eBay.
My second Khorne experience are these Bloodcrushers. I wanted to paint some miniatures with an homogenous colour scheme but with some contrast, so I decided to lacquer the metal cow (Juggernauts) and give a classic matt finish to the Bloodletters.
The Bloodletters chief has four arms to distinguish him.
I decided to give them the round and the square bases.
As everything that it is not a Dark Eldar or a Dark Elves, they were sold on eBay.
DGD levels
Dark:3/5
Gory:2/5
Dirty:1/5
What do you think?

VIII - Showcase: Zombies
Showcase: Zombies
I love zombie (TWD fan of course): they are dirty gory and dark! With them you can experiment a great quantity of techniques, to make them really disgusting and disturbing.
This is a showcase: I've sold them (two units of 35 each one) on eBay and soon I'll make a tutorial about them (hope you'll like it). It is very funny to make units like they are rising from their graves and I love to create unit fillers to give the atmosphere to the units.
Zombies are one of my favourites miniatures to paint and create and I hope that GW is not going to change them (only change bases) and let them survive (LOL) the AoS apocalypse.
DGD Levels
Dark: 3/5
Gory: 4/5
Dirty: 4,5/5
Waiting for the tutorial, for now tell me if you like them!!
IV - Showcase: Vampire Counts Necromancer
Showcase: Vampire Counts Necromancer
During those days I'm a bit lazy and I'm reading a lot of Lovecraft stuff -I've bought three books for the summer vacations but I've already finished two of them, they are magnetic- so I've found those pics on my pc of this guy that I was proud to have painted and shared them, in memory of the good old square bases. It is fun because he could be popped out from ''the case of Charles Dexter Ward''!
As you can see, it is an old one miniature of mine: today surely this old creepy man should be more dirty, and less red.
I loved to paint him because it has something: there are some miniatures that are better because give you atmosphere or somenthing similar.
I think it is more creepy this Necromancer than, for exemple, the brandnew Skulleaterbloodywhipperskull.
Furhermore I like miniature without too much details or random details.
This miniature gives me a bit of melancholy, because was one of the proof that GW could do excellent miniatures without use cannons in fantasy and other too much weird/steampunk thing (or delete a game/style for another), and I am not a AoS hater has you know! So a bit of melancholy also for you!
As usual, the miniature has been sold on eBay.
What do you think?
